President Kennedy made Armed Forces Day an official holiday in 1962, to honor Americans serving in all branches of the U.S. military. Armed Forces Day is celebrated on the third Saturday in May, and I was honored to spend part of the day at the home of a local Army veteran who had been chosen to receive much needed free home improvements to better accommodate his mobility challenges.  (more…)

Esther Greenhouse is an environmental gerontologist, specializing in the impact of the built environment on the level of functioning and well-being of seniors, and is also involved in the broader movement of Universal Design--design for every one, every day. Esther is an advocate for Aging in Place, and furthers this by teaching CAPS (Certified Aging in Place Specialist) courses on behalf of NAHB.

Recently, I read about the perceived value of door kit tub conversion kits, which involve cutting out the tub wall and installing a door for access.  The author, who is also an installer, wrote that many of his senior clients have chosen this option, because of cost and less intensive renovation.  (more…)

Best Bath Staff Takes A Little Time Out For Fun!

Even with their busy schedule, Best Bath staff members, Jeff Mooney, President, and Jay Multanen, Owner, made time to venture out in town while attending ACMA (American Composites Manufacturers Association) in Orlando, Florida.  They came across Magical Midway Thrill Park in Orlando.  There, they found themselves face-to-face with the ultimate thrill ride attraction.  The human SLING SHOT!

Ultimate Thrill Ride!

For those who aren’t familiar with this ride, it is basically a reverse bungee jump. The platform tilts you back into a reclined position and lowers you into the heart of a volcano. As the volcano starts to erupt, you are catapulted out at a force of 3-5 G’s. You experience total weightlessness as you are rocketing over 390 feet above the ground.

Lucky for us, there was a camera on board!

Attendees waited in line for 1 ½ hours to get in to the world’s biggest builder show.

Best Bath’s first day, at the International Builders Show (IBS) in Las Vegas, was extremely busy with lots of interest in the ADL Spa, our new Great Grabz line of grab bars, and barrier free showers with tile insets.  (See us at booth #C7336)

Best Bath Systems will have a booth at The International Builders’ Show (IBS), the industry’s largest annual light construction show in the world, taking place in Las Vegas January 22-24, 2013.   IBS is a terrific way to keep your finger on the pulse of the national housing market.  It is the one time of the year that everyone in the business comes together. It’s great for finding out what’s happening in all parts of the country and see what the latest trends are.

Best Bath will present the latest, most innovative bathing products in the industry to include our beautiful designer shower series, the new ADL Spa, and our latest line of stylish premium grab bars, Great Grabz.  You’ll see how we combine gorgeous accenting, multiple finishes, and beautiful accessories to compliment any bathroom.  In addition, Best Bath will be participating in the IBS Universal Design Product Tour taking place January 22nd from 1:00pm-4:00pm, and the Remodelers Aging-In-Place Product Tour January 23rd from 2:00pm-4:00pm.
